In Brieft, this section details the Wu-Chi's parent body's (the NZ ARK Educational Charitable Trust) certification of charitable status; our original certificate of incorporation; references from police, social welfare; Mayor and community support from corporate organisations such as the ANZ bank.

Certificate of Registration (2008)
Certificate of Registration for the NZ ARK Educational Charitable Trust (which is the parent body of Wu-Chi) from the Charities Commission.
NB: In 2008 the New Zealand Government required all charities to be re-established. And we are proud to say that the NZ ARK Educational Charitable Trust was re-confirmed and accepted.

Original Certificate of Incorporation (1993)
The Integris Charitable Trust was granted Certificate of Incorporation as an Incorporated Trust on the
13-January 1993 by the Department of Justice.

In 1992 NZ Ark and the Integris subsidiaries was granted full charitable status by the Inland Revenue Department.
The two subsidiaries of Integris then were: The Wu-Chi School of Arts, and Finesse Modelling and Deportment School.

Police Reference (1994)
“Over the past 4 years this organisation has come to my attention as a valuable asset to our communities. Its influence is a contributing factor to the stability of our society . . .

As head of Police operations in one of the toughest areas of New Zealand, I wholeheartedly support their efforts and encourage others to do likewise.”

Department of Social Welfare Reference (1992)
“The Wu-Chi School not only instructs the children in self-defence, but teaches and develops in each individual principles and values. . .
The Wu Chi School has catered for numerous "street kids" who have, since their attendance at the School, developed into teenagers who now have direction in life as well as becoming confident and stronger in character and self esteem.”

Wu-Chi's Original Referees
Our Original referees ranged from the District Commander of the Police, Leading Consultant Psychologist, Gisborne Councilors to Regional and National Bank Managers.
This shows that for a long time we have been known for the work we do in the community (both in New Zealand and Australia).

Corporate Support (1994)
Newspaper article highlighting the ANZ Banks support for the Integris Wu-Chi organisation and its work for young people and the community.
In a drive to help the local community, ANZ Bank pledged financial support for Gisborne’s
Wu-Chi School of Arts.

Mayoral Reference (2004)
“I personally know of Arthur’s long-term work and valuable contribution to the lives of people of all ages in Gisborne and in the wider New Zealand and Australian communities . . .
He has strong leadership qualities and uses his position in the community for positive benefit. What I find most appealing about Arthur is that his work inspires and educates others to do the same.”
