Advanced Program - Teacher Training
After a student has been in the school for three and a half years, they are eligible to enter the first stage of our teacher training program, which runs for two and a half years - qualifying as first degree black belt.
Apprentice teachers and trainers are selected from students who have successfully progressed through one of our programs and their motivation is no longer based upon the ideal of being a martial artist.

They must have attended the School for a minimum of three and a half years and gained the ability to self-perpetuate personal development in their own life in ways beyond that which martial art can offer.

Knowing that these ex-martial artists are among the most qualified to advocate reform from fighting and anti-social behaviour, they are trained to go back into the community and run classes that teach personal development to those who need their services.

As the old saying has it, "Reformed poachers make the best game keepers."

The teacher training classes are purposely held on Saturday nights to determine the commitment of the prospective teachers.

Once every six weeks the trainees attend special one-day workshops, where they train with senior teachers, meeting with the common purpose of advancing the school and its methods of teaching.  Here they learn how to construct the appropriate lessons that will inspire their students to attain new heights in personal development.

Working from the principle that "Good trees have strong roots. . ." we give full attention to maintaining the program that qualifies our teachers and trainers to stand as leaders in the Wu-Chi School of Arts.

In the final selection, teachers are chosen upon their:
- Proficiency in the art;
- Level of personal integrity;
- Empathy with other students and their endeavours;
- Ability to improve life for themselves and those around them.
For further information on the qualifications of our teachers, please see our Grading Chart and note the requirements for Green, Blue, Brown and Black Belt gradings.
